We are proud to announce that Makenzie Tate (SCMS) won second place in the Middle School Division of the Kenneth Newkirk Black History Essay Contest and received a certificate and a $75 gift card. The theme of the essay that was written and submitted was “I Am the Future.” The essay's purpose was to inspire the future and tell about an African-American who inspired you.
